These two water bodies in mid Fife began life as twin sand and gravel pits in the 1980s, but now form an important sanctuary for birdlife. Pleasant paths wind through the woodland around both lochs to form an easy circuit that’s popular with dog walkers; a path along the sliver of land between the two lochs offers a possible shortcut. A couple of hides enhance birdspotting opportunities, while you may even be lucky enough to spot red squirrels, an otter or even bats depending on the time of day you visit.
