๐Ÿ“Œ Carnish, Isle of Lewis
โ˜…

Abhainn Dearg is one of Scotland’s remotest distilleries, and as rustic as they come. The decidedly functional cluster of buildings sit in a valley alongside the Abhainn Caslabhat (“Abhainn Dearg” means red burn in Gaelic), on the sparsely populated west side of Lewis not far from Carnish Beach and the popular Uig Sands. Production started in 2008 and the first single malt was released three years later (the minimum required by law); it’s possible to visit the small visitor centre but the distillery doesn’t offer tours at the time of writing.
