Unless you count tiny Port Stoth on the Butt of Lewis access road, this is the northernmost sandy beach in the Western Isles archipelago. Newcomers are likely to first marvel at the exceptionally large children’s playpark next to the car park – with the usual (for Lewis and Harris) signs reminding visitors to respect the Sabbath. A short wander downhill brings you to a 500 metre-long expanse of perfect sand, though lying fully exposed to the Atlantic Ocean.
