Walk: Strandburgh Ness – edge of Everland

Starting from the evocatively-named farm at Everland, this circuit explores the east coast of Fetlar between Funzie Bay and Strandburgh Ness. There are some impressive slabby cliffs to see, Norse ruins at Inner Brough and deep geos, often accompanied by ever-watchful fulmars. This part of Fetlar is right on the edge of the British Isles: to the east, there’s nothing but ocean until Norway is reached, 300km distant. The west side of the headland has some spiky stacks before the coastline becomes more gentle for the final section.

🥾 On our last visit

Wildlife: Shetland ponies, sheep & lambs, seals, rabbits. Cormorants / shags, skuas, fulmars, black guillemots, oystercatchers, lapwings, snipe, ringed plover, wheatears.
