The Sands of Breckon is Yell’s best beach, up at the northern tip of the island. The west facing bay retains a decent strip of white sand even at high tide, backed by sand dunes, and access is easily gained from a nearby parking area. Breckon was proclaimed the world’s third best beach by Conde Nast Traveller in 2024. Err – what? It’s certainly lovely, but wouldn’t make it into our Scotland Top 5…
