π Park in Leven, Fife
β
β
Leven is one of the decidedly functional, post-industrial towns on the south coast of mid Fife, with a long esplanade overlooking an unremarkable beach. There’s little to attract the attention of tourists, but if you’re passing through the northern outskirts of town on the way to the prettier fishing villages further east, consider breaking your journey at Letham Glen. This council-run dell is an attractive spot with a simple layout: the park is only a few hundred metres wide but extends about a mile uphill, tracing the course of the Scoonie Burn. There’s a small sunken garden (formerly a swimming pool) and playground in the lower half of the park, with woodland trails further up forming a pleasant loop taking in both banks of the burn.
