Glen Grant is one of our favourite all round distillery experiences, and one which we’d recommend both to seasoned whisky fans and to the uninitiated. The tour is both interesting and quirky; it included a 4-D cinematic experience on our 2013 visit, along with a trip to the on-site bottling plant as well as the usual malt mill, mash, wash and still houses. We haven’t mentioned the stunning gardens yet, comprising immaculate lawns either side of the Back Burn which you can follow upstream into a gorge criss-crossed by a wooden walkway. A waterfall, whisky cave, dram pavilion are all part of the show at all times of year – not to mention rhododendrons, an apple orchard and autumn leaf displays depending on the time of year. The distillery forms part of Speyside’s Malt Whisky Trail.
