📌 Inverurie, Aberdeenshire
★
Tucked away on an obscure rural lane to the north of Insch, you won’t happen across Picardy Symbol Stone by accident. This two-metre tall stone dates to around 600 AD and is still found at its original location. Unusually, the stone is believed to have been linked to a burial site; it once stood on top of a stone cairn, though this is no longer visible. Mysterious Pictish symbols adorn the side facing the road: Z-rods, a serpent and a mirror.
