📌 Larbert, Falkirk

The River Carron at Larbert is a popular fishing spot both for humans and herons, but also features an attractive waterfall. Well – it’s actually a damaged weir, but let’s not split hairs. The river fairly thunders over when in spate, though working out when this is can be tricky due to dams further upstream. Not worth a special day trip, but surely justifying the 5-minute walk from the nearest road if you’re visiting the area.

💬 From the car park it’s a 5-min walk to the waterfall / weir ( Easy). Follow the clear footpath along a field edge, soon entering woodland before steps on the right descend to the weir. Alternatively, a lower and rougher footpath follows the river bank past a couple of other, tiny waterfalls. There is some rocky / slippery ground on the lower path and at the weir.
