📌 Ballater, Aberdeenshire
★★
Craig Coillich is one of the closest hills to Ballater, reachable on foot from the village centre, and with great views of the village from the top. Craigendarroch is also well seen across the River Dee, but brutally steep paths and dense forestry prevent Craig Coillich from becoming anything like as busy as its popular neighbour. But some people don’t mind suffering a bit during their outdoor pursuits, and the reward’s worth it in our opinion. The monument passed on the way down commemorates the second Baronet of Glenmuick.
