This famous distillery – dating from 1830 – is named after the stormy bay to the west, and remains one of the best indoor attractions on Skye. The maritime location is said to give the whisky an unusual, slightly salty flavour – although coastal distilleries are a little more common than Talisker might like you to think. Add a moderate amount of peat to the mix (in most expressions) and the result is a textbook island whisky. What about the distillery tour? We think it’s one of the better ones.
